Andaman & Nicobar make up Richie’s archipelago – a collection of 20 main islands out of 836, known for their Bio-diversity. 38 of which are inhabited. A diverse range of ecosystems exists within these, ranging from coastal rainforest and old growth forest to oceans and rocky coastal shores. Munjoh is located at the cultural & coastal epicentre of all these Islands- Port Blair & Havelock.

A legacy of centuries gone by

These Islands have been home to peoples who have lived on them for more than 2000 years. The last remaining protected tribe are the Jerawas and Sentinalese. Most other local populous are now settlers that have come in from Mainland over the last seven decades. Munjoh has with the local people fostered a friendship based partnership built on a mutual desire to honour, celebrate, protect and educate guests about the region’s natural heritage

These Islands’ protected ecosystem comprising rainforest, lakes, rivers and peaks provides habitats for a vast array of species, 1032 of which are endemic. Temperate rainforest makes up a majority of the Biosphere Reserve’s land component and is dominated by large trees including the Padauk and Garjan, while animal, bird & reptile species include the Megapode and the Nicobar pigeon.The Islands are home to Sperm whales, Whale sharks, Omura’s whales, Orcas, Dolphins and Rays as well as the Sea cow called Dugong.

GETTING THERE

The easiest and quickest way to travel to Munjoh is to fly to Port Blair, stay with us and then connect with a scenic 90 -minute Boar ride to Havelock Jetty and onward to Munjoh Havelock.
Boat
Arrival by boat is the most popular, convenient means of transport to and from both Resorts. Munjoh Reservations can assist with both airport and jetty transfers.
Recommended baggage limit is 10kilos per person.

SEASONS

The rainforests that dominate the landscape and ecosystem also drive the weather systems. While the region generally receives good rains that sustain its forests, in summertime the conditions are warm and dry, ideal for marine sports and beach activities, the monsoons make everything lush green & verdant & is an ideal time to enjoy these islands away from large crowds, cooler climes are ideal for coming on a special occasion and for well deserved rest and relaxation.

Travelling by boat to & from Port Blair

Flight

Guests flying into PB Airport are asked to advise Munjoh reservations of arrival time well in advance, transportation can be arranged to and from both jetty and airport.

Hotel

Guests departing a Munjoh hotel prior to their arrival at either Resort are asked to advise reservations and transportation will be arranged from the hotel. The team will provide transportation based on the number of guests.
