The Andamans are often planned as a checklist: land in Port Blair, hurry towards a ferry, collect a few famous beaches and fly home.
But islands reveal themselves slowly.
A more rewarding journey allows Port Blair to be more than an arrival point and Havelock to be more than a photograph. One offers history, hillside quiet and a doorway into the wider archipelago. The other follows the sea through tropical gardens, long beach days and evenings under the trees.
Together, they create two distinct rhythms of island life.
Here is how we would shape seven unhurried days across Munjoh Island House and Munjoh Ocean Resort.
Day One: Arrive gently in Port Blair
Flights, early starts and airport queues can take more out of a traveller than expected. Instead of racing directly towards another transfer, let your first island day begin softly.
Munjoh Island House sits on a quiet hillside away from the city’s busiest movement. Settle into your suite, have a late breakfast or an easy lunch at The Port, and allow the pace of the islands to find you.
Spend the afternoon beside the pool or simply watch the light change over the surrounding greenery. This first day is not empty space in the itinerary. It is the moment the holiday begins.
Day Two: Meet the history behind the horizon
Port Blair holds some of the most important chapters in the story of modern India.
Visit the Cellular Jail with enough time to understand it, rather than treating it as a hurried sightseeing stop. Continue towards the city’s museums or the remains of the former administrative settlement on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island, depending on current schedules and your interests.
Later, follow the road towards Chidiya Tapu or another quiet edge of South Andaman. Here, forest and sea meet under an enormous evening sky.
Return to Munjoh Island House for dinner. On a clear night, the pool deck offers its own reason to linger: changing skies, a bright moon and, on rare nights, the possibility of the luminous arc of a moonbow.
Day Three: From hillside calm to life by the sea
After breakfast, travel to the jetty for the crossing to Swaraj Dweep, still widely known as Havelock Island.
Ferry schedules change with season and operating conditions, so this journey should be planned around confirmed tickets rather than a rigid clock. Munjoh’s team can assist with airport, jetty and property transfers.
At Munjoh Ocean Resort, the landscape changes again. Villas and suites sit among tropical gardens, while the sea is always close enough to shape the day.
Do very little this afternoon. Walk towards the beach, find your way through the gardens and let dinner unfold slowly at La Luna.
Day Four: Follow the water
The Andamans reward curiosity beneath the surface as much as above it.
Depending on weather, season and personal comfort, the day might include scuba diving, snorkelling, kayaking or a boat journey. It might equally mean swimming, reading beneath the trees and returning to the sea whenever the heat begins to soften.
The best island itinerary is not necessarily the busiest one. Leave enough space between experiences to actually feel where you are.
As evening arrives, choose an open-air dinner or ask about a private meal, subject to season and availability.
Day Five: Explore Havelock beyond the familiar
Make room for one journey beyond the resort.
Radhanagar Beach is celebrated for good reason, but the road towards it is part of the experience too: forest, small settlements and sudden openings towards the sea.
Alternatively, follow a nature trail, take a bicycle out at an easy pace or ask the team about a carefully planned island outing.
Return before the day becomes a race. There should still be time to wash away the salt, pause on your verandah and arrive at dinner without watching the clock.
Day Six: Keep one day unplanned
This may become the day you remember most.
Wake without an alarm. Begin with a long breakfast. Return to the beach, book time at Shaantim, order something fresh for lunch and allow the afternoon to change its mind.
Munjoh is an independent Indian hospitality brand, created on the islands rather than imposed upon them. Its properties are intimate by design. The experience is personal, particular and shaped by people who have spent years learning the rhythms of this place.
That difference becomes clearest on an unplanned day.
Day Seven: Leave with the islands still unfolding
Depending on your flight and ferry timings, return to Port Blair with a comfortable margin rather than building an itinerary around a risky connection.
If time permits, stay a final night at Munjoh Island House. It offers a gentler ending: a proper meal, a quiet suite and the reassurance of waking on the same island as the airport.
Seven days will not reveal every part of the Andamans. That is precisely the point.
The best journey does not leave you feeling that you have completed the islands. It leaves you understanding their scale—and already imagining your return.
A note on planning
Ferry times, sea conditions and activity availability can change. Confirm inter-island travel in advance and keep the sequence flexible around current operating schedules.
